This weekend as Great Lake, Liawenee, is a tradition for many anglers, who come to see hundreds of Brown Trout in the canal. The fish are captured and stripped of eggs on site for transfer and rearing at the Salmon Ponds. The service also displays information on management and education programs, with live fish aquaria and hands-on activities. Fishing businesses promote their products and services at the events Trade Exhibition and angling clubs use the event as fund raisers, providing food and drink stalls, and running demonstrations, competitions and raffles.
